The Need for San Diego Families:

🩰 Arts Access: 89% of California K–12 schools fail to provide instruction in all four arts disciplines — visual arts, music, theatre, and dance — as required by state goals. Only 11% offer all four, a number that hasn’t improved since 2006.

👶 Childcare Crisis: 190,000 children in San Diego County under age 12 live in what experts call a “childcare desert.” With childcare consuming up to 42.6% of a family’s income when combined with rent, quality care is out of reach for many parents.

📚 After-School & Economic Gaps: 5,389 students are currently on San Diego Unified’s PrimeTime after-school waitlist — more than double last year — and 14% of local children live below the federal poverty threshold, limiting access to critical enrichment and support.
